REVIEW: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate

Image

I was so excited when I saw that Kate Moss and Rimmel London teamed up and created a lipstick line. I was recently looking for a new product that doesn’t look too cake-y and this one was the winner ($5.49 at Walgreens).

It comes in an adorable red and black tube with “Kate” in a pretty font printed on the cap, which made my eye go directly to it.

I swatched a bunch of the lipsticks on my hand at the store and decided to get color 103. After a few days of playing with it, I realized I hated the color. It’s a mauve color that is too old lady-ish for me.

Even though I dislike the color, I love the formula. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t chunk up, and is matte (something that I’ve been hunting for!). The only thing I noticed is that you need to be careful while applying this lipstick because the color does smudge easily before it dries on your lips.

For the low price and good quality I will definitely purchase more of these lipsticks (and I will also make sure I don’t get a granny color!)

4.1 stars for the Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate.

REVIEW: Covergirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm

While strolling through the magical makeup isle at my local Walgreens, my eye went directly to these large chopsticks (or so I thought). As I read “LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm,” this had my name written all over it. And at $8.99… you can’t go wrong.

I  am one who has trouble with lip sticks… keeping them on, reapplying, lining… it slowly becomes a chore. It’s a different story with this new product.

The Jumbo Gloss Balms are, well, amazing. They come in 19 shades to please almost anyone, and I bought three (Watermelon Twist, Ruby Twist, and Blush Twist). Watermelon is a cute, pinky pink (as I call it). I usually wear this color with golden tones and when I am a little more dressed up. Ruby is the PERFECT red without screaming red! It took me forever to find my type of red and this color is it (and is perfect for my cheerleading competitions). Lastly, my favorite, Blush. This is my go to, everyday, holy grail lip look. I can sweep this color on and feel presentable in whatever outfit I have on. I wear this when I want to dress up or when I’m running out in sweatpants and flip flops.

But the consistency is what I liked most. These are a hybrid of a lip stick and a lip balm… the happiest of all mediums. They go on smooth and moisturize at the same time. I never have to prime my lips before and I can go until mid-morning without having to reapply. Of course, this product isn’t meant to stay on all day… it is called a balm for a reason.

I give COVERGIRL 4.5 stars, you go COVERGIRL.
